Madhya Pradesh to Equip 40,000 Farmers with Solar Irrigation Pumps in Four Years: CM Yadav

Bhopal, Dec 12 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Mohan Yadav revealed on Thursday that his administration aims to deliver solar irrigation pumps to all 40,000 farmers in the state over the next four years.
During a press conference celebrating the first anniversary of his government, he emphasized that solar irrigation pumps would liberate farmers from reliance on the grid and mitigate challenges like power outages during peak seasons caused by overload or failures.
CM Yadav pointed out that farmers frequently express concerns about irrigation power being available at inconvenient night hours; however, with the new pumps, they can utilize solar energy during daytime hours.
Additionally, the state government is planning to distribute solar pumps to households in urban regions, CM Yadav noted.
"In addition to benefiting the farmers, this initiative will ultimately reduce the subsidy burden on the government in the forthcoming years. The state currently allocates approximately Rs 10,000 crore annually on power subsidies in urban areas," he stated.
"Currently, the government spends over Rs 25,000 crore each year on power subsidies. This figure is expected to rise in the coming years. Once farmers and households begin utilizing solar pumps, these funds can be redirected to other sectors," he continued.
CM Yadav also declared his commitment to doubling the state's annual budget within five years, highlighting various measures taken to achieve this goal.
He asserted that positive results are already evident, as most departments are generating higher revenue compared to previous years.
The annual budget for the state for the year 2024-25 stands at Rs 3,65,067 crore, and CM Yadav's government aims for a target of approximately Rs 8,000 crore by the end of his five-year term in November 2028.
