Bhopal, March 2 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared on Sunday that the government of Madhya Pradesh will offer farmers a permanent electricity connection for just Rs. 5.
While emphasizing the prompt rollout of this initiative in the central region, he mentioned plans for a gradual expansion throughout the entire state.
The Chief Minister revealed that in recent months, over 1.5 lakh farmers with temporary connections had been transitioned to permanent ones at a lower cost.
Farmers utilizing 3 HP pumps will only need to pay 5 percent of the cost, while those with 5 to 7.5 HP pumps will be responsible for 10 percent.
Yadav made these statements during an address to farmers who had assembled at the Chief Minister's residence for the Kisan Aabhar Sammelan (Farmers Gratitude Conference).
In his address, Yadav further announced that over the next three years, 30 lakh solar pumps will be distributed to farmers, liberating them from electricity costs. Each year, 10 lakh connections will be provided.
"Measures are being taken to guarantee 24-hour electricity supply for farmers. The electricity generated by farmers through solar energy will be purchased, and they will receive cash payments," he added.
The Chief Minister highlighted that wheat is currently being procured at a support price of Rs 2,600 per quintal, which includes a bonus of Rs 175. He compared this to the Rs 447 per quintal rate from 2003-04, highlighting the substantial increase achieved by the government.
“Moreover, for 2024, the government will offer a Rs. 4,000 per hectare incentive for paddy procurement,” the Chief Minister noted.
He stated that PM Modi is making sure farmers receive their rightful benefits, and the government’s compassionate approach reflects this dedication.
Additionally, he encouraged farmers to practice crop rotation, shifting from paddy cultivation to groundnuts and other natural crops, stressing the importance of positioning Madhya Pradesh as a leader in organic farming.
