Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Feb 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced on Wednesday that empowering farmers is the foremost objective of the state government, which is dedicated to safeguarding the interests of farmers while improving their income.
The Chief Minister underscored the government's commitment to ensuring that farmers obtain the full value of their crops promptly and without obstacles.
He revealed that during the Kharif season of 2025–26, over 5.174 million metric tonnes of paddy were successfully procured, showcasing the effectiveness of the state’s farmer-centric initiatives.
Yadav mentioned that a technology-driven payment system has been established to guarantee timely payments to farmers, with the Minimum Support Price (MSP) being directly deposited into their bank accounts.
The Chief Minister stated that for the Kharif season, the MSP for common paddy was set at Rs 2,369 per quintal, reflecting an increase of Rs 69 from the previous season.
“This rise in MSP is a tangible measure by the state government to secure fair prices for farmers’ produce,” Yadav affirmed in a statement.
According to the statement, during the last Kharif season, the MSP for paddy stood at Rs 2,300 per quintal. In that season, a total of 4.352 million metric tonnes of paddy were procured from 669,272 farmers at the notified MSP.
This year, 1,436 procurement centres were set up across the state for paddy procurement. Through these centres, 5,174,792 metric tonnes of paddy were procured.
Transportation of over 4,838,637 metric tonnes of the procured paddy has been finalized, with 4,630,021 metric tonnes accepted post quality assessment.
Yadav indicated that the total MSP value for this season's procured paddy is estimated at Rs 12,259 crore, with nearly Rs 11,000 crore already transferred directly to farmers’ accounts.
“The procurement payments have provided substantial financial support to farmers, allowing them to prepare for the upcoming cropping season with increased confidence,” he added.
He also noted that the entire paddy procurement process was under continuous government monitoring to ensure farmers faced no challenges and received the full benefits of government schemes in a timely manner.
