Bengaluru, Aug 1 (NationPress) The district branches of the Madiga organizations organized a demonstration against the Congress-led administration in Karnataka on Friday at Freedom Park, insisting on the prompt execution of internal reservation.
The groups protested in front of the offices of all Deputy Commissioners statewide.
During the event, former Union Minister and senior BJP figure, A. Narayanaswamy, emphasized that the Madiga community will no longer accept empty promises. "We will not wait until the next election," he affirmed.
Narayanaswamy warned that if the Congress government in Karnataka does not promptly enact internal reservation, the Madiga community will initiate a vigorous disobedience campaign against the administration.
He pointed out that protests are occurring today across all districts, transcending political affiliations. “This is not a BJP-led movement,” he clarified.
He questioned whether the Karnataka government prioritizes its position over the concerns of the people. “Is development more critical for the government, or is it merely clinging to power?” he inquired.
“Justice has not been delivered to the Madigas. Our patience has run out. We can't wait any longer. If we take to the streets, we know how to make you leave,” Narayanaswamy warned.
He also criticized the Chief Secretary for not convening a meeting when asked to address the grievances faced by Madigas since 1976.
“Reservation should not solely depend on population. The injustices our community has endured for over 40 years must be acknowledged. If a higher reservation is not granted based on decades of oppression, the Madiga community will be compelled to carry out a significant agitation,” he cautioned.
He insisted that all back payments must be settled. “If past commitments are not honored, we will mobilize for a substantial struggle,” he stated.
Narayanaswamy highlighted that protests are being held today in front of the Deputy Commissioners’ offices in 26 districts, symbolizing the awakening of the Madiga community. “We want to remind numerous MLAs in this state that their victories would have been impossible without the Madiga vote,” he said.
He condemned elected officials who won with Madiga support but have now remained silent. “You do not advocate for the Madigas, yet you have the nerve to solicit our votes?” he questioned.
“Is there any legislation in this country that prohibits Madigas from receiving reservations?” he asked.
“During Zilla Panchayat and other local body elections, they keep saying ‘tomorrow, tomorrow’ regarding reservations. You had the authority to suspend the Constitution and declare an Emergency to maintain your position as Prime Minister. However, for the Dalit Madigas of this state and nation, injustices have persisted even after Independence. Many Madiga students are unable to pursue MBBS due to financial constraints. Do you even comprehend this?” he challenged the Congress party.
Narayanaswamy questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s dedication to socialism. “The CM claims to be a socialist delivering justice to all. Then what is he advocating for?” he asked.
He criticized that not a single initiative has been provided to the economically disadvantaged Madigas in any sector. “Where is your socialism?” he pointedly asked.
He declared that this is not merely a disobedience campaign — it will evolve into a movement aimed at unseating the government. He expressed gratitude to all participants in the protest.
BJP MLA Basavaraj Mattimadu, BJP state spokesperson H. Venkatesh Dodderi, BJP SC Morcha state vice-president Hoodi Manjunath, alongside community leaders and officials from various organizations were in attendance.
