Mumbai, Feb 27 (NationPress) The President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Harshwardhan Sapkal, declared on Thursday that his party is dedicated to dismantling those ideologies that insult Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from the cliff of Takmak Tok.
“The forces that denied Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation and propagated false narratives about him are currently in control at both the central and state levels. The ideology that once persecuted Shivaji Maharaj continues to persist. Those who disrespect Shivaji Maharaj enjoy state support and are being shielded and honored. We are resolved to eradicate such ideologies from the cliff of Takmak Tok,” stated the Maharashtra Congress Chief after honoring Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the Raigad Fort.
He subsequently visited Chavdar Tale in Mahad, paying respect to Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Sapkal emphasized that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj not only fought against the Adilshahi and Nizamshahi but also against discrimination, untouchability, and regressive ideologies.
“While the Adilshahi, Nizamshahi, and Aurangzeb have vanished, the ideology of communalism persists today. An actor disrespected Shivaji Maharaj, yet instead of taking action against him, police officers are stationed outside his residence for protection,” he remarked.
He mentioned that historian Indrajit Sawant receives threatening calls, and derogatory comments about Shivaji Maharaj are rampant.
“The government, rather than addressing those who insult Shivaji and Sambhaji Maharaj, is honoring Savarkar, which is regrettable,” he asserted.
He further noted that during the struggle for independence, the aim was not merely a transfer of power but a transformation of the system.
“The Indian Constitution embodies the concept of Hindavi Swarajya. The ideologies and policies of Congress are rooted in Hindavi Swarajya. The party is committed to realizing the people's rule envisioned by Maharaj, which is why we have come to Raigad to take this pledge,” he added.
Commenting on the Pune rape case, Sapkal remarked that crimes against women reflect the government’s inadequacies.
“The functioning of the Home Department today reminds us of Ghashiram Kotwal. Chhatrapati Shivaji empowered the Peshwas, but they later dismantled Swarajya. Are we witnessing history repeating itself?” he questioned.
