Maha: Expecting Mother Welcomes Baby Girl at Chalisgaon Railway Station with RPF Support

Nagpur, Dec 17 (NationPress) An expecting mother successfully gave birth to a healthy baby girl at the Central Railway (CR)’s Chalisgaon station in Jalgaon district, aided by the prompt response of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, as stated by an official on Tuesday.
The joyous event occurred while the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was journeying on the Igatpur-Bhusaval MEMU train.
The Deputy Station Manager at Chalisgaon received an urgent call regarding a woman experiencing labor pains on the train and was requested to make necessary arrangements for her.
A dedicated team of RPF personnel, including a woman Sub-Inspector, along with the help of fellow passengers, carefully assisted the woman off the train at Chalisgaon station.
In an unexpected turn of events, a doctor traveling on the same train also came to the woman’s aid, and she successfully gave birth to a female infant at the Chalisgaon station, as onlookers celebrated the moment.
Shortly afterward, they were swiftly taken to the Chalisgaon Civil Hospital Trauma Care Centre for further medical assistance, and both the mother and her newborn are reported to be in good health.
The RPF, through its initiative ‘Operation Matrushakti’, has been providing comprehensive support to pregnant women during such emergencies.
This operation includes arranging medical facilities while en route, at stations, swiftly transporting the pregnant woman to the nearest hospital, addressing other medical requirements, and notifying relatives, among other services.
From January to November 2024, ‘Operation Matrushakti’ has successfully assisted women in 15 similar emergency situations across various trains, with three incidents each in the Mumbai and Pune divisions, one in the Nagpur division, and the highest of eight in the Bhusawal division, as reported by a CR official.
Out of these 15 incidents, eight were effectively managed within the railway premises, while the rest occurred outside, showcasing the RPF’s commitment to safeguarding and assisting pregnant women during such critical moments, in addition to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers, railway properties, and other assets within its jurisdiction.
