Mumbai, Oct 13 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde revealed on Monday that a Diwali gift of Rs 6,000 will be given to approximately 85,000 employees and officials of the state-run Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Additionally, the government will allocate Rs 65 crore monthly to cover salary discrepancies, alongside offering Rs 12,500 as a Diwali advance to eligible employees.

This announcement came after a meeting with representatives from MSRTC employee organizations and the action committee, where Deputy Chief Minister Shinde expressed, "The state is currently grappling with significant challenges due to heavy rainfall. The government is resolutely supporting our farmers and has decided to ensure that the Diwali celebration for MSRTC employees is joyful. It’s also crucial for MSRTC to achieve economic stability, and strategies are being implemented to enhance its revenue. For this purpose, lands occupied by MSRTC will be developed through a public-private partnership."

He further mentioned that the state government has agreed to provide a grant of approximately Rs 51 crore to facilitate the Rs 6,000 Diwali gift for all government employees and officials.

Moreover, employees will receive the salary increment difference for 2020-24 monthly, with a provision of Rs 65 crore made by the state government.

Employees willing to receive the festival advance will be granted Rs 12,500, with MSRTC requesting Rs 54 crore from the government for this purpose, according to Minister Sarnaik.

In the meantime, Minister Sarnaik emphasized the need to strengthen MSRTC's infrastructure in Sindhudurg district. He highlighted the necessity to enhance transport services in proportion to the district's geographical diversity by providing additional buses.

During a meeting addressing various MSRTC-related issues in Sindhudurg, he proposed that five buses be assigned to the Vengurla and Kudal depots and recommended expanding the bus station in Oros based on passenger numbers and government offices.

He advocated for developing the bus station through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to create a more spacious facility. "Planning should factor in the number of employees and buses to ensure that services remain uninterrupted for passengers," he stated.

Additionally, he directed that an officer fill the vacant Divisional Controller position in Sindhudurg district.
