Gangtok, Oct 14 (NationPress) Residents of Sikkim can now directly interact with the government via the 'Connect to CM' platform to address any concerns or grievances, as stated by a senior official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday.

On Monday, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated the 'Connect to CM' initiative at Samman Bhawan in Gangtok, and the system was activated on Tuesday.

According to CMO Secretary Karma Namgyal Bhutia, the 'Connect to CM' program is a citizen-focused initiative designed to bring governance closer to the populace, enabling individuals to voice their issues and concerns directly to the government.

During a media briefing, Secretary Bhutia emphasized that this initiative showcases the government's dedication to fostering transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery.

He explained that 'Connect to CM' empowers citizens to articulate their concerns, seek help, and communicate with the Chief Minister’s Office.

As of Tuesday (October 14), the service is accessible via two dedicated phone numbers -- 80016-81188 and 93327-81188 -- operational from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the year, including public holidays and festivals.

Bhutia remarked, “While similar initiatives might exist in other states, ours is distinct as it operates year-round.”

The system guarantees that every grievance is documented and addressed, with the official noting that after a call is placed, citizens will receive a follow-up call within 48 hours from the CMO regarding the status of their concern.

Callers are advised to have identification documents, such as Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, and Certificate of Identification (COI), prepared for verification.

Initially, ten trained tele-operators at the CMO will oversee the system, Bhutia stated. The government has also recruited and trained monitoring assistants at the Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) level to assist citizens in scanning and uploading documents to the official email ID.

Moreover, awareness and sensitization programs will be conducted at the ward level to ensure that all citizens are informed about this initiative.
