Jaipur, Oct 14 (NationPress) The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has apprehended Amit Sharma, a significant player associated with the criminal factions of Lawrence Bishnoi and Rohit Godara, while he was in the United States, according to an official statement.
The official disclosed that Sharma, who had been evading capture abroad for an extended period, is now facing extradition proceedings to facilitate his return to India.
As shared by ADG Crime Dinesh MN, Sharma, known by nicknames like Jack Panditji, was overseeing the gangs’ international operations.
“He was orchestrating criminal activities remotely — collecting extortion payments, distributing funds to gang members, providing safe havens, arranging fake documents, and financing fugitives like Godara post his escape from India,” he stated.
ADG Crime Dinesh MN elaborated that Sharma’s overseas journey commenced in 2021, starting in Dubai, moving to Spain, and eventually reaching the United States, utilizing what is referred to as the “donkey route.”
“While in the U.S., he was located and arrested through Interpol's assistance and collaboration with the Jaipur Crime Branch, which had issued a Red Corner Notice and informed U.S. authorities of his locations,” he explained.
ADG Crime Dinesh MN mentioned that Sharma, a native of Matili Rathan in Sriganganagar, is implicated in multiple criminal cases across Rajasthan and other regions.
“After leaving the country, he frequently changed his identity to avoid being caught,” he remarked.
Moreover, Dinesh MN revealed that Sharma served as the gang's “treasurer abroad” — managing ransom funds, disbursing money to operatives, facilitating weapon procurements, and coordinating drug trafficking activities.
“He also maintained strong connections with Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar, organizing finances, security, and strategic guidance for their operations in India,” he added.
ADG Crime Dinesh MN recounted that on April 29, 2022, a shooting incident occurred at Amod Kumar Bhagat’s residence in Sriganganagar, a plot allegedly orchestrated by Sharma alongside Lawrence Bishnoi.
“Additionally, on January 26, 2022, illegal pistols and cartridges were confiscated in Purani Abadi from a suspect; these weapons were tied to Sharma’s network. In January 2024, authorities seized six pistols and 84 cartridges from an individual named Ummed Kumar in Sriganganagar. Investigators assert that Sharma, alongside a local associate, supplied those weapons,” he stated.
ADG Crime Dinesh MN noted that Sharma has conspired with Anmol Bishnoi and others to commit crimes, some of whose shooters were captured by the Delhi Special Cell.
“He is also sought after in multiple cases across Punjab and Haryana,” he added.
With Sharma now in custody, both the AGTF and national law enforcement agencies are expected to expedite his extradition to India, where he will face questioning and prosecution for various serious charges.
