New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) In response to the disturbing Durgapur gang-rape incident, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated on Tuesday that the law and order situation in West Bengal has significantly declined.
While speaking to IANS, Meghwal emphasized, “The law and order situation in West Bengal has completely deteriorated. Even though the Chief Minister is a woman, she tends to suppress such incidents whenever they occur. Due to her appeasement policies, these serious cases are allowed to fade away. This is an alarming situation, and we strongly condemn it.”
He further remarked, “The politics of appeasement is tarnishing the reputation of West Bengal. When such incidents arise, the government resorts to diversion tactics. Recently, BJP MP Khagen Murmu faced an attack by Trinamool Congress goons. He is a tribal leader.”
Regarding the Bihar elections, Meghwal expressed optimism that the NDA will surely regain power.
“The primary focus of the Bihar elections is development and effective governance. The NDA is leading on both of these fronts and is poised to form the government again,” he stated.
In the meantime, after finalizing the seat-sharing arrangement within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the BJP has released its initial list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election in 2025.
This list features several key leaders, including the two current Deputy Chief Ministers and two former ones.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will run from Tarapur in Munger district, while Vijay Kumar Sinha will contest from Lakhisarai.
Among the former Deputy Chief Ministers, Tarkishore Prasad is set to compete from Katihar, and Renu Devi will run from Bettiah in West Champaran district.
The party has also renominated international shooter and sitting MLA Shreyasi Singh from the Jamui seat.
Notably, the BJP has awarded tickets to two former Members of Parliament — Ram Kripal Yadav, who will contest from Danapur in Patna district, and Sunil Kumar Pintu, who is contesting from Sitamarhi. Pintu had previously represented Sitamarhi in the Lok Sabha, but under the NDA’s 2024 seat-sharing formula, this parliamentary seat has gone to the JDU, with Devesh Chandra Thakur running in 2024.
