New Delhi, April 5 (NationPress) Bihar's Minister Ram Kripal Yadav criticized West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, on Sunday, claiming that the sentiment among the populace is shifting negatively towards her.

Addressing Banerjee's recent comments regarding possible election boycotts, Yadav remarked, “The people have lost faith in her. Mamata Banerjee has come to terms with the prevailing public mood against her. This is why she's now mentioning boycotting the vote and withdrawing from the electoral contest. Any leader who steps back can grasp the gravity of the circumstances there…”

He also condemned the ruling party for its handling of law and order, particularly concerning the upcoming political gatherings. “Law and order is a crucial aspect that the state government must manage, especially when the Home Minister is scheduled for an event. Any security breach signals a state of chaos. The public is increasingly irritated with the Trinamool Congress…” he added.

These statements arise as political tensions escalate in the state, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) preparing for elections to the 294-member West Bengal Legislative Assembly, which are set to occur in two phases on April 23 and April 29.

In a separate rally in Manikchak on Saturday, Mamata Banerjee called on voters to halt the polling process wherever they encounter malfunctioning electronic voting machines (EVMs) during the elections. She also cautioned voters to remain alert against alleged efforts by the BJP to utilize Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel to hinder legitimate voters from accessing polling stations.

“The BJP may attempt to obstruct genuine voters from reaching polling locations on voting day by deploying CAPF. The EVMs are produced by a Central government agency. Should any EVM issues arise, refrain from casting your vote and demand a halt to the polling. Insist on the provision of new EVMs… It’s crucial for women to take the lead in this matter,” CM Banerjee stated.

Additionally, she warned voters about outsiders entering communities to sway opinions and stressed, “Once we secure victory in Bengal this year, our next target will be New Delhi.”

Point of View

The unfolding political dynamics in West Bengal highlight significant shifts in public opinion and the potential ramifications for the ruling party. As the BJP positions itself ahead of crucial elections, understanding the sentiments and reactions of the electorate remains paramount.
