Mumbai, March 10 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution applauding the Indian cricket team for their triumph in the Champions Trophy.
The resolution was introduced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who highlighted that India has now become the only nation to win the Champions Trophy three times. “This victory is an unforgettable gift that our team has presented to countless Indian cricket enthusiasts. Throughout this tournament, a remarkable sense of team spirit was evident in the Indian squad. It is worth admiring,” he stated.
“Under the guidance of Captain Rohit Sharma, the Indian team displayed immense dedication. In the final match, Captain Rohit Sharma excelled with his performance, adapting his usual technique to play effectively, scoring 76 crucial runs. These runs proved to be pivotal. Therefore, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to him,” the resolution states.
“The Champions Trophy has consistently challenged us. India has achieved the unique feat of winning both ICC trophies consecutively, following last year's T20 World Cup and now the Champions Trophy,” the resolution continues.
“In the early phases of this Champions Trophy, numerous critics speculated about the forms of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Discussions arose regarding their performance levels. However, both players have demonstrated that while form may fluctuate, class is everlasting,” remarked the Chief Minister. “Rohit Sharma’s classy batting, following Virat Kohli’s previous match performance, showcased his experience and youthful vigor,” Fadnavis commented.
“I would particularly like to commend Varun Chakravarti. He initially played cricket during his school years but later pursued a career as an architect, stepping away from the sport. However, cricket remained in his blood, leading him back to the game. Today, he astonished everyone with his spin bowling, proving his worth,” he praised Varun Chakravarti. “Varun Chakravarti and Kuldeep Yadav secured vital wickets at critical junctures,” the Chief Minister added.
“We genuinely wish to honor this champion team. Today, we will pass a resolution of congratulations on behalf of the House. This resolution from the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly should be dispatched to every team member as a commendation letter,” the Chief Minister proposed.
After the Chief Minister introduced the resolution, Speaker Rahul Narwekar requested members to approve it. Subsequently, members from both the treasury and opposition benches unanimously endorsed the resolution.
