Mumbai, Feb 26 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that the state government is set to establish a partnership with the ‘Youth for Jobs’ organization aimed at enhancing employment opportunities for divyang (disabled) youth in Maharashtra.
This initiative will initially focus on the Vidarbha and North Maharashtra regions, where the organization will support the government in creating both employment and self-employment opportunities.
The local district administrations, along with the state government, will provide comprehensive support for this initiative.
CM Fadnavis expressed optimism that local voluntary organizations would also participate actively in the overall societal development.
“The state government is dedicated to fostering training and employment opportunities for disabled youth, aiming for their economic self-sufficiency. In this context, registered disabled individuals will receive a Unique Disability ID (UDID) over the next five years, which will facilitate their access to employment and self-employment options. The government is efficiently executing schemes tailored for the disabled, while voluntary organizations are also contributing to their development,” remarked the CM.
He further stated, “A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ‘Youth for Jobs’ will soon be signed. Initially, the organization will assist in Vidarbha and North Maharashtra in creating employment and self-employment avenues, with plans for a statewide expansion in the future. This initiative will provide job opportunities for disabled youth.”
He emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring that divyangs receive their due benefits and full access to the announced schemes.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several significant schemes have been initiated to realize the vision of a ‘Developed India’. To boost employment opportunities through skill-based education, the Skill Development Department has been established. The state government is also making pivotal decisions for the welfare of the youth,” he added.
An updated database is being created to ensure that all divyangs in the state benefit from government schemes.
A comprehensive registration drive is underway, and registered disabled individuals are being issued a UDID.
The state government is taking all necessary steps to ensure disabled individuals access all benefits from both central and state government schemes, as indicated in the government release.
As per the government release, ‘Youth for Jobs’, founded and chaired by Meera Shenoy, has successfully collaborated with the central government and the Gadchiroli district administration to enhance employment prospects for divyang youth.
Training is customized according to the type of disability, and job fairs are organized to connect trained individuals with industry needs.
Private sector employers involved in this initiative include Lifestyle International, Aditya Birla Fashion, Reliance Trends, IIFL, Milan Coffee House, HPCL, BPCL, Sahyog Multi-State Credit Cooperative Society, local automobile dealers, and Disha Manpower & Security.
Moreover, self-employment opportunities are being created for those unable to work in traditional jobs, facilitating their integration into mainstream society. This model will be rolled out across all districts in Maharashtra to generate employment for the disabled, as per the government release.
