Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday celebrated the state's strong showing at the National Panchayat Awards 2025, with four gram panchayats from Maharashtra picking up top honours conferred by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj in New Delhi. The awards were presented by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, recognising village-level excellence across categories ranging from child welfare to water security.

In his post, Fadnavis wrote that it gave him 'immense joy' that several villages from Maharashtra had received awards at the hands of the Union Minister, and offered 'hearty congratulations to all the winners'. He listed the citations village by village, calling the haul an 'outstanding performance' (उल्लेखनीय कामगिरी) for the state at the national level.

According to the Chief Minister, Maharashtra secured two first-place finishes and two second-place finishes nationally. Itgaon (Pu) in Bhandara district was ranked first in the country in the Child-Friendly Panchayat category, while Khariwali in Khalapur taluka of Raigad district stood first in the Water-Sufficient Panchayat category.

In addition, Chambharli (Khalapur, Raigad) was placed second in the Socially Just and Socially Secure Panchayat category, and Nimbale in Chandwad, Nashik district was ranked second nationally in the Good Governance Gram Panchayat category. The post was accompanied by three images from the felicitation ceremony.
