Mumbai, June 25 (NationPress) Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan stated on Wednesday that the state is proudly positioned as India’s foremost economic powerhouse, contributing over 14 percent to the national GDP and ranking among the top industrial states in the nation.
Maharashtra is indeed the vibrant heart of India’s economic dreams, he emphasized.
The state continues to draw the highest influx of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country, he noted.
“In 2024-25, Maharashtra captured an impressive 40 percent of India’s total FDI, amounting to Rs 1.64 lakh crore. The World Economic Forum in Davos 2025 facilitated MoUs worth nearly Rs 15.72 lakh crore in potential investments. These investments are anticipated to create over 15 lakh new jobs across the state,” he remarked.
“The confidence of global investors reflects our stable policy framework, top-notch infrastructure, and vast growth potential. Our economy, currently valued at a remarkable $530 billion, is firmly on a trajectory to reach the $5 trillion milestone by 2047. This ambitious vision aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of a $30 trillion economy for Viksit Bharat 2047. I firmly believe that Maharashtra will play a pivotal role in realizing this vision,” the Governor stated during his address at the Maharashtra Industry Dialogue 2025, organized by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
The Governor mentioned that Maharashtra is evolving into the startup capital of India and boasts the nation’s largest pool of skilled talent.
“As Chancellor of 29 state-funded universities, I am actively promoting international collaborations, industry partnerships, and apprenticeships within our universities. I have also encouraged them to offer short-term programs in foreign languages such as German, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Italian, and others. Mastery of foreign languages will provide our youth with a competitive edge in the job market,” he added.
“Rightly known as the Gateway of India, Maharashtra serves as India’s primary portal to global trade and a vital hub for seamless commerce. The completion of the Deep Water Port at Vadhavan and the International Airport in Navi Mumbai is set to revolutionize the state like never before,” the Governor asserted.
The Governor pointed out that the backbone of Maharashtra’s industrial prowess lies in its robust MSME sector.
“Housing over 82.63 lakh registered MSMEs — the largest in India — this sector is a key driver of grassroots economic activities and job creation,” he noted.
He announced that the state government has initiated the Maharashtra Technical Textiles Mission, making Maharashtra the first state in India to align with the Central Government’s National Technical Textiles Mission.
“Our government is set to implement the new Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy starting April 1, 2025, aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation and minimizing our carbon footprint. Our objective is clear: to cultivate an ecosystem where businesses flourish, operations are seamless, innovation thrives, and every citizen can engage in and benefit from Maharashtra’s economic growth,” the Governor concluded.
