Beed, Oct 2 (NationPress) Pro-Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil emphasized on Thursday that the government must implement the government resolution (GR) issued on September 2 and initiate the distribution of Kunbi certificates to members of the Maratha community at the taluka levels before it's too late.

“Failure to do so will lead us to make decisive choices - peacefully, but with determination,” he declared at a rally held on the occasion of Dussehra at Narayan Gad.

He expressed contentment regarding the GR for Maratha reservation, stating it realizes his aspirations. He urged the community to remain calm and united while vocally criticizing the delays, labeling the GR as “useless without action” and calling out certain scholars as “crazy” for opposing it out of fear.

He insisted on the need for authentic OBC heritage certificates for all qualified Marathas, arguing against a mere token 10 percent separate quota. He warned those undermining the Maratha community, exclaiming, “Don’t provoke us. We will take strong action if necessary.”

Additionally, he demanded that agriculture be recognized as a job and that farmers with less than 10 acres of land receive a monthly salary of Rs 10,000.

“Agriculture should be considered a job. Those farming on less than 10 acres should start receiving Rs 10,000 as salary each month. This income will encourage unemployed youth to engage in farming,” he remarked.

Jarange-Patil questioned, “Who among you wants an agricultural job with a salary of Rs 10,000?” Many attendees raised their hands in response. While presenting these various demands for farmers, he also urged them not to sell their lands.

Discussing the destruction caused by severe rains and floods in the state, Jarange-Patil insisted that the government promptly declare a wet drought, provide Rs 70,000 aid per hectare to farmers, and announce a complete loan waiver for them.

“Farming along riverbanks has been devastated; the government should offer Rs 1.30 lakh per hectare to these farmers. Numerous farmers have committed suicide in the past 20 years, hence the government should create jobs for their families and ensure minimum prices for crops,” he stated.

“If the farmers' demands are not met by Diwali, there will be no Zilla Parishad and Municipal Council elections. We won’t allow ballot papers in villages nor will we permit the election dates to be announced without declaring a wet drought, a debt waiver, full compensation for losses, and crop insurance,” he warned.

He asserted that if election dates are declared without addressing his demands, ministers will be barred from holding meetings in Maharashtra.

“I am merely a temporary visitor in this world; I can’t say much. Even in poor health, I am prepared to sacrifice my life for the community. My intentions are not for personal benefit but to advocate for the rights of the Maratha community. My body may falter, but my spirit remains unyielding,” he stated.

He underscored the necessity for Marathas to take on roles as administrators and leaders, asserting that if they dominate the governance, others will bow to them.

He stressed the importance of unity within the community, urging them not to blame OBCs for their struggles and to collaborate together.
