Mumbai, April 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, proclaimed on Friday that India is set to spearhead the creative entertainment economy in the years to come.

He unveiled plans for the development of a 240-acre land parcel in Malad, owned by the Information and Broadcasting Department, into a premier entertainment hub.

Furthermore, the establishment of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Mumbai was announced by the Chief Minister.

"With the establishment of IICT, Mumbai will advance in global creative technology and will be acknowledged as the entertainment capital of the world," he stated.

An MoU was signed with IICT on Friday.

After assessing the preparations with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, CM Fadnavis mentioned that the World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025), set for May 1 to 4 in Mumbai, is anticipated to be the largest event globally in the creative entertainment domain.

Maharashtra has the privilege of hosting this prestigious international summit, which is expected to highlight Mumbai as a hub for creative entertainment.

CM Fadnavis remarked to the press: "This is a chance for the world to experience India's creative talent in the entertainment field. The state government will provide complete support for the success of this event."

He noted that the summit aligns with PM Narendra Modi's vision of showcasing a new identity for India on the global stage, and Maharashtra is proud to lead in its implementation.

He underscored the swift expansion of the entertainment economy, stressing that India must take the lead in this sector.

Over 100 countries are expected to take part, with more than 5,000 delegates anticipated for the event.

The summit is proposed to be held annually in Mumbai, which will greatly enhance the city's global standing.
