Mumbai, May 1 (NationPress) Various sectors are propelling Maharashtra towards growth, and in the upcoming years, the entertainment industry is set to become a pivotal player in the state’s development, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025 (WAVES Summit), inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
The Chief Minister revealed plans for a Media and Entertainment City spanning 120 acres within Mumbai's 500-acre Film City, specifically tailored for animation, gaming, and visual effects (VFX).
He emphasized that both initiatives will be launched imminently, asserting that through the WAVES Summit, India has showcased its leadership in the creative sector.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India has transformed into a global economic powerhouse, and the nation is now ready to take the lead in the creative industry as well,” he remarked.
Pointing out Maharashtra's strengths in information technology, skills, and talent, the Chief Minister urged all to embrace India's new ‘Creative WAVES’.
Meanwhile, PM Modi toured the Bharat Pavilion, Maharashtra Pavilion, and the Gaming Arcade showcased at the WAVES Summit. Within the Bharat pavilion, he also visited the ‘Magical Maharashtra’ Pavilion set up by the state government.
During his visit, he explored various pavilions and discovered cutting-edge technologies being utilized in the entertainment and audio-visual industries.
After visiting the Gaming Arcade, he engaged with representatives from participating companies, discussing emerging technologies in the gaming sector and potential opportunities.
The Bharat Pavilion features participation from Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, as well as leading entertainment and media platforms like Netflix, Jio, YouTube, news channels, and film production houses, all of which have established their respective pavilions.
