New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) In a significant operation against drug traffickers and their narcotics network, the Delhi Police Crime Branch successfully dismantled an interstate syndicate on Thursday, recovering 341 grams of premium heroin, estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore in the international market.
Three individuals involved in drug trafficking—Farman, Shadaab, and Sikander—were apprehended by the Crime Branch in the Zakir Nagar locality of the city.
The operation, executed by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) alongside the Crime Branch, led to the confiscation of contraband valued at Rs 1 crore.
A dedicated team, which included Sub-inspector Rohit, Assistant Sub-inspector Sanjay, Head Constable Amit, along with Sharwan, Pramod, Naveen, and Pawan, under the guidance of Inspector Vijender Singh and led by ACP Rajkumar, conducted raids across various city areas based on confidential information, ultimately targeting the traffickers in Zakir Nagar.
Initially, the police detained Farman in Zakir Nagar, recovering 315 grams of heroin. During interrogation, he revealed that the primary source of the drugs was Shadaab. Following this, further raids were conducted, leading to Shadaab's arrest along with 26 grams of heroin. Shadaab subsequently implicated Sikander, originally from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh but residing in Zakir Nagar.
All three suspects were arrested within a span of 24 hours.
The trio are reported to be school dropouts and former drug users, who became addicted at a young age. Initially working as delivery personnel for e-commerce platforms, their desire for quick financial gains led them to drug trafficking.
“To fund their lavish lifestyles and aspirations for easy money, Farman and Shadaab began sourcing drugs from various suppliers in Delhi, distributing them under the pretense of Blinkit. As demand surged, they connected with Iliyas from Pilibhit, who helped them distribute heroin to a wider network,” stated the police report.
The ANTF and Crime Branch teams are continuing their investigations into the interstate drug trafficking operation, now tracing connections to Shairpur in Uttar Pradesh, aiming to unveil the complete network of traffickers.
