Kolkata, Dec 22 (NationPress) The suspended Trinamool Congress legislator from the Bharatpur Assembly Constituency, Humayun Kabir, stated on Monday that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is no longer the individual she was 15 years ago, claiming she is now beyond the grasp of common citizens.
After launching his own political party, Janata Unnayan Party, Kabir remarked, "The leadership qualities of Mamata Banerjee are undoubtedly commendable. I still regard her as a capable leader. However, I must note that the Mamata Banerjee today is entirely different from the one who was in opposition 15 years ago."
He further mentioned that Mamata Banerjee has distanced herself from the common people, often surrounded by government officials.
Nevertheless, he expressed admiration for her nephew and the general secretary of Trinamool Congress, Abhishek Banerjee.
"I have a fondness for Abhishek Banerjee. He is an exceptionally talented young leader. I believe he will prove himself as a proficient politician in the future, provided he has the liberty to enact his decisions," Kabir stated.
In a surprising turn, Kabir referred to the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, as an acceptable politician.
"Suvendu is a genuinely political individual. Occasionally, he may make communal remarks due to the pressures of his current party affiliation. However, I hold no negative sentiments towards him," Kabir expressed.
Kabir also indicated his openness to align with all "anti-Trinamool Congress" and "anti-BJP" factions for the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal set for next year, aiming to displace the current Trinamool Congress government. He mentioned that the decision on the number of constituencies his party will contest from will depend on the prevailing circumstances.
"Currently, I am open to alliances with anti-Trinamool Congress and anti-BJP entities," he concluded.
