Kolkata, March 20 (NationPress) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Thursday that she has designated specific party leaders to oversee the operations of the state government and Trinamool Congress during her upcoming trip to the United Kingdom.

In a statement to the media, the Chief Minister noted that a five-member task force from her cabinet will manage the state's affairs in her absence.

This task force comprises West Bengal Minister of State for Finance (independent charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya, state Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, state Power Minister Arup Biswas, state Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Sashi Panja, and state Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose.

During her absence, the operations of Trinamool Congress will be managed by party general secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee along with the party's state president Subrata Bakshi, she stated.

The Chief Minister assured that she will remain accessible via mobile phone for any emergencies while she is in the United Kingdom.

Chief Secretary Manoj Pant will accompany her and will also be reachable on his mobile as well, the Chief Minister confirmed.

However, she abstained from making any remarks regarding the recent violence in Nagpur, indicating that opposition figures in Maharashtra like Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray are more suited to address the matter.

“I firmly oppose violence. I have never engaged in communal incitement. The repercussions of the Babri mosque demolition were felt in West Bengal. Afterward, I consulted the administration about their need for assistance. However, since the unrest occurred in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray are the appropriate individuals to comment on this situation,” stated the Chief Minister.

Throughout her trip, she is scheduled to deliver a lecture at a college linked with Oxford University and participate in various business meetings aimed at attracting investments for the state.
