Shouldn't Bengal CM Focus on Her Duties Instead of Expressing Anger?

Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) Political discourse heightened on Friday regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's demonstration against the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raid on the office and residence of the political consulting firm I-PAC in Kolkata. A JD(U) leader remarked that she ought to concentrate on her responsibilities rather than express her frustrations.
In response to Banerjee’s protest, Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, the National Spokesperson for JD(U), stated that the Chief Minister should prioritize governance over challenging investigative bodies. “She should focus on her duties instead of constantly expressing anger towards enforcement agencies. Instead, she ought to approach the citizens of West Bengal and apologize for her shortcomings. The rampant lawlessness in the state has turned sentiments against her, making her re-election unlikely,” he commented.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Narendra Kashyap also supported the ED’s efforts, affirming that investigative bodies would fulfill their role if corruption was present.
“Should Mamata Banerjee or her administration be implicated in corruption, the ED and CBI will perform their tasks. Prime Minister Modi has assured the nation, ‘I will neither accept bribes nor allow corruption.’ Under his guidance, corruption will not be tolerated in the country, be it involving Mamata Banerjee or Kejriwal,” Kashyap remarked.
Chhattisgarh Minister Tank Ram Verma criticized the West Bengal Chief Minister for opposing the inquiry, stating that interference in an investigation is intolerable.
“This is entirely incorrect. The ED is executing its responsibilities and must be permitted to carry on its work. Interfering with and seizing documents during an ongoing investigation is unacceptable. The populace of Bengal is weary of this government, and soon we will respond vigorously through democratic channels,” he asserted.
BJP spokesperson Preety Shekhar also targeted CM Banerjee, suggesting her reaction stemmed from political insecurity. “The circumstances for Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal have become precarious. Observing her dwindling support, she is making reckless statements and is caught in unfounded allegations and counter-allegations. It is widely known that the Enforcement Directorate has undertaken actions. Prateek Jain, the director of I-PAC and linked with Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress IT cell, is being interrogated by the ED concerning coal smuggling cases,” she mentioned.
The reactions followed a dramatic standoff between Mamata Banerjee and ED officials during the raids at I-PAC’s office and residence in Kolkata. The Trinamool Congress leader accused the central agency of attempting to “loot” her party’s documents and announced a protest rally against the searches.
CM Banerjee plans to spearhead a protest rally on Friday, escalating the political clash between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP-led Centre regarding the ED’s actions, while opposition figures maintain that investigative agencies should operate independently and free from political interference.
