Bengaluru, Sep 23 (NationPress) A man has surrendered to the police after fatally stabbing his second wife 11 times in a shocking public display, witnessed by her young daughter. The incident occurred on Tuesday, following a brutal attack that took place the previous day.
The perpetrator, identified as 43-year-old Lohitashwa, also known as Lokesh, hails from Sira town in Tumakuru district.
The tragic event unfolded on Monday when the victim, Rekha, was at a bus stop with her 12-year-old daughter. Reports indicate that Lokesh, driven by unfounded suspicions regarding his wife's fidelity, confronted her and proceeded to stab her multiple times.
According to DCP (West) S. Girish, Lokesh voluntarily presented himself to the authorities and has since been charged under Section 103 of the BNS Act. His motivations stemmed from jealousy, as he suspected Rekha of being involved with other men, a claim lacking substantial evidence.
Rekha, a divorcee and mother of two, had only recently married Lokesh, marking his second marriage as well. She worked at a private company and had made arrangements to keep her elder daughter with her while leaving the younger with her parents. This decision led to persistent conflict between the couple, especially concerning the elder daughter.
On the day of the incident, following a heated argument at home, Rekha left with her daughter. Lokesh, in a fit of rage, followed them and launched an attack, stabbing her 11 times before fleeing the scene.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case, with the Kamakshipalya police leading the inquiry.
