Bhopal, Sep 24 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Rajendra Shukla, announced on Tuesday that the BJP-led state government has been actively implementing numerous initiatives aimed at improving health services. The impact of these initiatives is expected to become evident in the state over the next few years.
A key element of this approach involves the establishment of new medical institutions through centrally sponsored schemes and Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects, which seek to tackle the shortage of healthcare professionals.
Rajendra Shukla, an influential BJP leader who oversees the Health and Medical Education departments, stated that the state aims to increase the number of government medical colleges from the current 19 to 26.
Importantly, six of these colleges have been established in recent years, in addition to the existing 13 private medical colleges.
The state is also home to AIIMS Bhopal, recognized as a premier medical institution of national significance.
In light of the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet's approval to create 354 new senior resident positions across 13 government hospitals, Deputy CM Shukla referred to this decision as a significant advancement in the medical sector, which will enhance faculty development in these institutions.
This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The addition of these posts will ensure the medical colleges operate in accordance with the standards set forth by the National Medical Commission.
The newly approved positions will be distributed among 13 autonomous medical colleges located in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Satna, Vidisha, Ratlam, Khandwa, Shahdol, Shivpuri, Datia, and Chhindwara.
"This Cabinet decision will allow postgraduate students graduating from medical colleges to undertake their senior residency within the same college, enabling the state to recruit medical educators for non-clinical and para-clinical departments," Deputy CM Shukla told IANS.
