He passionately advocated for the rights of the underprivileged, farmers, and laborers, dedicating his life to the pursuit of equality and social justice. Biren Singh, along with Congress’s Lok Sabha Member for Inner Manipur, Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, and other political leaders, MLAs, and dignitaries, expressed their deep respect for the leader.
In a post on his X account, former CM Singh remarked, “I had the privilege of joining the people of Manipur in commemorating Jana Neta Hijam Irawat Day, a time to reflect on the lasting legacy of one of our most courageous and progressive leaders.”
“The struggle he led transcended his era; it serves as an ongoing call to action for all of us. Let us be inspired by his vision to create a Manipur that is inclusive, fair, and united in purpose. He drew parallels between the freedom fighter’s efforts in mobilizing peasants, farmers, and laborers for just wages and land reforms and the current economic challenges faced by small traders and laborers.
