Imphal, April 5 (NationPress) In a noteworthy demonstration of teamwork and swift response, the Assam Rifles, in conjunction with Manipur Police, successfully rescued a private firm employee less than 24 hours after his abduction by armed members of an unidentified group, an official reported on Friday.

A spokesperson for the Defence stated that the Assam Rifles, alongside the Manipur Police, located Sunil Kumar in Tollen Village, situated in the Tamenglong district of Manipur, on Thursday night.

Sunil Kumar had been taken hostage on Wednesday by armed personnel from an unknown organization while he was working at a stone quarry near the Barak River bed, close to Maokot village in the Tamenglong district, which borders Assam and Nagaland.

The Assam Rifles and Manipur Police collaborated to gather information and engaged with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure a rapid and safe recovery of the abducted individual.

Throughout the night, the Assam Rifles conducted multiple operations in the surrounding jungles.

CSOs were also involved in acquiring real-time intelligence, which ultimately compelled the kidnappers to release the individual unharmed within 24 hours, according to the spokesman.

The successful recovery of the abductee by Assam Rifles underscores the force's strong dedication to the protection of local residents and prompt action against offenders, as noted in a statement.

In related news, the Manipur Police apprehended 11 militants from various outlawed groups and seized a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition over the past 24 hours.

A police representative stated that four militants were detained in the Imphal East district, five in Imphal West district, and one each in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
