New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Denis Manturov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to provide updates on the advancements in various sectors of bilateral collaboration, including trade and economic partnerships, fertilizer initiatives, connectivity, and people-to-people relationships.
During their discussion, PM Modi reminisced about Russian President Vladimir Putin's trip to India in December of the previous year for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) noted that PM Modi expressed his contentment regarding the progress made by both nations in implementing the outcomes from the Annual Summit, which aims to further enhance the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
PM Modi also conveyed his warm regards to President Putin, expressing eagerness for future interactions, as stated by the PMO.
Earlier that day, Manturov had a discussion with Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, where they focused on bolstering trade and investment relations as well as other issues of shared interest.
The Ministry of Finance shared on X that, "Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman met Mr. Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, in New Delhi today. Both leaders exchanged perspectives on strengthening trade and investment relations and addressed matters of mutual concern."
Manturov's arrival in New Delhi on Thursday marked the beginning of high-level discussions encompassing defense, energy, trade, and a variety of other bilateral topics.
In a post on X, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), welcomed Mr. Denis Manturov, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation and co-Chair of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation, to New Delhi.
He further mentioned, "During this visit, he will engage in consultations with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and participate in other bilateral meetings."
