Moscow/New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Denis Manturov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, is set to land in New Delhi on Thursday for an official two-day trip to India.
As per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Manturov's agenda includes discussions with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
Additionally, Vladimir Yakushev, Secretary of the General Council of the Edinaya Rossia Party and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, will also be in India for an official visit from April 2-4. He leads the working group focused on fostering cooperation between the Federation Council of Russia and the Council of States of the Parliament of India.
During his interaction, Yakushev is expected to engage with EAM Jaishankar and various Indian parliament members to discuss matters concerning Russian-Indian inter-parliamentary relations, as well as trade, economic, and cultural cooperation.
Earlier this week, EAM Jaishankar met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko in New Delhi, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation amidst ongoing regional and global developments.
In a post on X, Jaishankar remarked, "It was productive to meet Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko of Russia. We examined the potential for advancing our extensive cooperation, alongside discussing regional and global events."
Furthermore, India and Russia conducted Foreign Office Consultations on Monday, examining their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and discussing a range of bilateral, regional, and global topics of shared interest.
These consultations were co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Rudenko.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal mentioned in a post on X: "India-Russia Foreign Office Consultations, led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, took place in New Delhi today."
He added, "The discussions covered the broad spectrum of our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, along with perspectives on various bilateral, regional, and global matters."
On Tuesday, Rudenko expressed Russia's anticipation for a visit from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a bilateral summit later this year. "This year, we are looking forward to hosting the Russian-Indian summit. We hope that Prime Minister Modi will accept President Vladimir Putin's invitation for an official visit to Russia at a suitable time," Rudenko was quoted by Russia's leading news agency, Tass.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining regular and systematic interactions between Russia and India at different levels.
