New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with Denis Manturov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, focusing on enhancing bilateral collaboration across various sectors, such as trade, fertilisers, connectivity, and people-to-people relations.
The Prime Minister expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing initiatives by both nations to actualize the decisions made during the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, which took place during President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India in December of the previous year.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister stated: "It was a pleasure to meet with Denis Manturov, Russia's First Deputy PM. We explored our mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, fertilisers, connectivity, and people-to-people relations. I appreciate the ongoing efforts from both sides to put into action the results of the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held during President Putin’s visit to India last December."
Earlier that day, Manturov met with the Prime Minister and provided updates on the progress made in various facets of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic partnerships, fertilisers, connectivity, and personal ties.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) reported that the Prime Minister expressed his contentment with the initiatives undertaken by both countries to fulfill the summit's outcomes, aimed at further fortifying the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
"The Prime Minister conveyed warm regards to President Putin and expressed eagerness for ongoing exchanges," the PMO noted.
Earlier in the day, Manturov also met with Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, to discuss ways to enhance trade and investment ties, as well as mutual interests.
The Finance Ministry shared on X, "Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman engaged with Denis Manturov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, in New Delhi today. The two leaders exchanged views on strengthening trade and investment relationships and deliberated on issues of mutual concern."
Manturov arrived in New Delhi early Thursday for high-level discussions encompassing defence, energy, trade, and other bilateral matters.
In a post on X, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), welcomed Denis Manturov, stating, "A warm welcome to Denis Manturov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and co-chair of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation, to New Delhi."
"During this visit, he will conduct consultations with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and take part in further bilateral meetings," he added.
