Gandhinagar, Jan 17 (NationPress) Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced a substantial investment of Rs 35,000 crore to establish a new manufacturing facility in Khoraj, Gujarat. This plant is projected to achieve an impressive annual production capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.
The Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, shared the news on X, highlighting that this venture will create over 12,000 jobs and stimulate the growth of ancillary units and MSMEs in the region, thus forming a robust auto manufacturing cluster.
Shriyut Hitachi Takeuchi, the MD of Maruti Suzuki, presented the investment letter to the Chief Minister during a ceremony in Gandhinagar.
“I am pleased to witness the Investment Letter Handover by Maruti Suzuki India Limited to the Government of Gujarat for a major car manufacturing facility at Khoraj, supported by an investment of Rs 35,000 crore,” Patel stated in his post.
Under the guidance of the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative, Gujarat is reinforcing India’s manufacturing infrastructure, the Chief Minister added.
“The establishment of Maruti Suzuki further solidifies the trusted India–Japan partnership and showcases global confidence in Gujarat’s policy-driven governance, world-class infrastructure, and industry-friendly ecosystem. Gujarat has indeed emerged as one of India’s premier automobile hubs and a favored destination for international investors,” Patel elaborated.
The new Maruti Suzuki plant will occupy 1,750 acres of land provided by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
Earlier this week, the country's leading car manufacturer revealed that its board had sanctioned a Rs 4,960-crore proposal to acquire land for expanding its production capabilities in Gujarat.
This land acquisition aims to enhance production capacity at the Khoraj Industrial Estate from the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, with a proposed increase of up to 1 million (10 lakh) units, as stated by Maruti Suzuki India in an exchange filing.
In 2025, the car manufacturer achieved a record production output of over 22.55 lakh vehicles—the highest in a single calendar year. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki India exported 3.95 lakh vehicles in 2025, marking its best performance to date in any calendar year and reflecting a growth of over 21 percent compared to 2024.
