New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) The Uttar Pradesh Police have filed an FIR against 300 individuals concerning the violent incidents that transpired in Mathura following the demise of cow vigilante Baba Chandrashekhar, commonly referred to as 'Farsa Wale Baba'.

Reports indicate that the event took place on NH-19 when Chandrashekhar was tragically struck by a truck early Saturday morning. While police assert that it was a road accident due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, his supporters are alleging foul play, claiming it to be a conspiracy.

In response to the incident, large crowds formed, blocking the highway and placing the body in the roadway, which halted traffic for several hours. The protest escalated into violence, with demonstrators throwing stones, vandalizing vehicles, and clashing with law enforcement.

Amid rising tensions, the Uttar Pradesh Police lodged an FIR against 22 identified individuals and approximately 250-300 unidentified persons on charges that include rioting, attempted murder, vandalism, and obstructing government duties. Police sources confirmed that between 10 to 14 individuals have been detained or arrested so far, with ongoing efforts to identify additional participants in the unrest.

Officials noted that the situation deteriorated due to rumors suggesting that the seer had been murdered by cow smugglers, which fueled public outrage. Later, authorities clarified that the vehicle initially halted by Chandrashekhar was not transporting cattle, and the fatal incident occurred when another truck collided with the stationary vehicle.

Earlier on Saturday, Mathura Police asserted that the death of local cow vigilante Baba Chandrashekhar was indeed a road accident and not connected to cattle smuggling, countering earlier claims that heightened tensions in the area.

According to the police in Mathura, the deceased, known as Chandrashekhar, had stopped a vehicle under suspicion of cow rustling when another truck struck him amid the low visibility caused by fog. This unfortunate incident occurred in the Kosi area, near Navipur village, under the jurisdiction of the Kosi Kalan police outpost.

Initial reports suggest that Chandrashekhar was pursuing a truck on his motorcycle, suspecting it was engaged in cattle smuggling.

To prevent further escalation, a significant police presence has been established across sensitive locations. Senior officials have pledged stringent legal actions against those responsible for the violence, while also urging for calm.

The administration remains vigilant, closely monitoring the situation as tensions continue in various parts of the district.
