New Delhi, Oct 7 (NationPress) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday emphasized the need for Indian enterprises to capitalize on the vast opportunities presented by the government’s flagship initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ in order to enhance economic relations between India and Qatar.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Goyal mentioned he had a “productive discussion” with the Indian business delegation during his visit to Doha.
He urged them to unlock the complete potential of India-Qatar economic relations by utilizing transformative programs that encourage innovation, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship.
According to him, these endeavors will help cultivate mutual prosperity between the two countries.
“I had a productive discussion with the Indian business delegation in Doha. I urged them to unlock the full potential of our economic connections and enhance partnerships by leveraging transformative initiatives like Make in India and Startup India, thereby nurturing mutual prosperity,” Goyal stated.
Additionally, Goyal addressed an event for the Indian community in Doha, where he commended the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening bilateral relations.
He underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-sufficient and thriving India as a crucial aspect of the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
He encouraged the community to seek new opportunities for collaboration and to further reinforce business and cultural ties between India and Qatar.
During his visit, the Minister also introduced India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at Lulu Hypermarket in Doha.
Describing it as a “revolutionary advancement” for digital connectivity and payment convenience, Goyal noted that this initiative symbolizes India’s dedication to facilitating cross-border trade and advancing the ‘Digital India’ mission.
“I am proud to launch Bharat's own UPI at Lulu Hypermarket in Doha, Qatar. This launch is a revolutionary advancement for digital connectivity and payment ease, reflecting India's dedication to promoting cross-border commerce and leveraging 'Digital India' initiatives,” the Minister stated.
He pointed out that UPI will now be available at Qatar National Bank point-of-sale terminals throughout major markets in the country, aiding Indian travelers and enhancing trade and tourism between India and Qatar.
