Lucknow, Dec 6 (NationPress) On the 69th Mahaparinirvan Day of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati voiced her concern over the fact that countless members of the Bahujan community have yet to experience the ‘good days’ characterized by self-respect and dignity, despite adhering to the path laid out by the architect of the Indian Constitution.
In a post on the social media platform X, Mayawati remarked, “Today, as we commemorate the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna, the highly esteemed Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the champion for millions of individuals from the Bahujan Samaj across the nation, I have paid my respects to him.”
She noted that numerous party leaders and supporters convened at various memorials dedicated to Ambedkar throughout the country to honor the architect of the Constitution.
“Party members from 12 organizational divisions in Uttar Pradesh, along with Babasaheb’s followers, assembled in significant numbers at the magnificent ‘Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Social Change Site’ established by the BSP government along the banks of the Gomti River in Lucknow. Participants from Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand also gathered at the ‘National Dalit Inspiration Site and Green Garden’ in Noida, built by the BSP government, to pay their respects,” she elaborated.
Mayawati also mentioned that BSP National Coordinator Akash Anand honored the Noida memorial. She acknowledged that similar tribute events took place at zonal levels across various states.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone, especially the people of Uttar Pradesh,” she expressed.
In reflecting on Ambedkar’s legacy, Mayawati questioned why millions from the Bahujan community continue to await dignity and social justice.
“On significant occasions such as Independence Day, Republic Day, as well as the birth and death anniversaries of Babasaheb, one persistent question arises -- when will the ‘good days of self-respect and equality’ come for millions of Bahujans in the country, in accordance with the humanitarian and welfare objectives of the Constitution?” she wrote.
She reaffirmed that the BSP, being the only Ambedkarite political party in the nation, remains dedicated to Ambedkar’s mission.
“The BSP is vigilant, aware, and profoundly concerned about why genuine ‘good days’ have not yet arrived for the marginalized, oppressed, and exploited Dalits, tribals, and OBCs -- the communities for whom Babasaheb devoted his life and enacted robust constitutional protections. Salute to him,” Mayawati added.
