BSP to Organize Nationwide Demonstration on December 24 in Response to Home Minister's Comments on Ambedkar

Lucknow, December 21 (NationPress) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is set to launch a nationwide protest on December 24 to voice their dissent against Home Minister Amit Shah's contentious remarks regarding Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar made in Parliament. They allege that these comments have disrespected the individual who laid the foundations of India's Constitution.
In a series of updates posted on the social media platform X, BSP leader Mayawati conveyed her party's strong opposition to Amit Shah's statements.
She emphasized the lasting admiration for Dr Ambedkar, referring to him as a “super-humanistic” figure who crafted a welfare-centered Constitution that advocates for the rights and dignity of Dalits, marginalized communities, and other overlooked sections of society.
“Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution that guarantees self-respect and human rights for Dalits and the underprivileged, is revered as a deity. The disrespect shown by Shri Amit Shah wounds the hearts of the populace,” Mayawati stated.
Furthermore, she remarked, “Citizens from various backgrounds throughout the nation are profoundly angered and disturbed by the statements made in Parliament concerning such a remarkable individual. The Ambedkarite BSP demands the immediate withdrawal and public apology from the Home Minister, which has yet to occur.”
Mayawati declared that if the demand for a retraction and apology is ignored, the BSP will rally its supporters across the nation.
“The party has resolved to conduct a peaceful, nationwide protest on December 24. On this day, sit-ins and demonstrations will be held at all district headquarters nationwide, advocating for justice,” she announced.
The BSP leader also stressed the historical and social importance of Dr Ambedkar, calling him the “true messiah” of Dalits and Bahujans, who tirelessly advocated for their legal rights and social dignity. “In the absence of Babasaheb, who devoted his life to empowering Dalits and Bahujans to uphold their self-respect and secure their legal rights, we must honor his legacy above all else,” she emphasized.
Mayawati also criticized both the BJP and Congress, accusing them of hypocrisy in their approach to Dr Ambedkar’s legacy.
“If parties like the BJP and Congress cannot sincerely honor Babasaheb, they should at least avoid disrespecting him. The day Babasaheb ensured legal rights and reservations for SC, ST, and OBC communities through the Constitution was akin to them receiving seven lifetimes of blessings,” she insisted.
Previously, on Thursday, Mayawati held a press conference in Lucknow where she demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah retract his controversial remarks about Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
