Assam Congress MP Accuses Amit Shah of Insulting Dalit Community through Comments on Ambedkar

Guwahati, Dec 23 (NationPress) Assam Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi stated on Monday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has not just shown a lack of respect towards B.R. Ambedkar in Parliament but has also offended the entire Dalit community.
Bordoloi mentioned, "I was present in the Parliament when Union Home Minister Amit Shah made comments regarding B.R. Ambedkar. I possess the original audio recording. His remarks were of a derogatory nature, insulting the Dalit community in our nation."
The Nagaon Lok Sabha MP further emphasized that the Congress party will persist in its protests against Amit Shah's comments concerning Ambedkar.
Earlier on Saturday, the Congress party initiated a nationwide movement to reinforce its demand for the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks about B.R. Ambedkar, who is recognized as the principal architect of India's Constitution.
"As part of our ongoing protest against the offensive and disrespectful remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding B.R. Ambedkar, the party has resolved to intensify our demand for his resignation," stated Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal in a press statement.
This decision emerged from a high-level meeting led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, where it was decided to fortify efforts to honor Ambedkar's legacy. A series of activities has been arranged as part of this escalated campaign.
"All Congress MPs and members of the Congress Working Committee will conduct press conferences in their respective constituencies, state headquarters, or district centers on December 22 or December 23 to denounce the remarks against Ambedkar and advocate for the resignation of Amit Shah," Venugopal mentioned in the statement.
In line with the agitation, the party has scheduled a Babasaheb Ambedkar Samman March to take place in every district across India on Tuesday.
The march will commence with the garlanding of Ambedkar's statue, followed by the submission of a memorandum to the President via respective District Collectors.
"A large portrait of Ambedkar should be prominently displayed at the forefront of the march. Participants are encouraged to carry placards featuring Ambedkar's image along with slogans demanding an apology from Amit Shah and his dismissal from the Union Cabinet," Venugopal stated.
"These actions reaffirm our commitment to preserving the legacy of Ambedkar, who remains a symbol of justice and equality for the nation. We call upon all party leaders, members, and the public to actively engage in these initiatives," he added.
