Odisha: Congress to Launch Ambedkar Samman Yatra on December 24

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23 (NationPress) The Congress party in Odisha is preparing to conduct the Ambedkar Samman Yatra across all districts in the state on Tuesday, December 24, in reaction to the purported disrespect shown towards B.R. Ambedkar by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament.

The Congress has called for Amit Shah's resignation and a public apology for his controversial remarks regarding Ambedkar.

During a press conference held on Monday, Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka stated, "The Congress will organize protests against Amit Shah's statement and the 'anti-constitution, anti-Dalit mindset' of the BJP. On Tuesday, we will honor the statues of Ambedkar in all districts nationwide and subsequently march to the offices of district collectors, holding photos of Ambedkar. We will submit a memorandum to the President via the district collector, demanding that Amit Shah resign and apologize. We will not tolerate the disrespect he has shown towards Ambedkar."

The MP from Koraput also indicated that the Congress will persist with protests until Amit Shah resigns and offers an apology for his remarks about Ambedkar.

He further emphasized that his position as an MP, being from the tribal community, was made possible due to the efforts of Ambedkar, Jawahar Lal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He labeled the ruling BJP and RSS as anti-Constitution and asserted that the Congress is committed to defending the Constitution and advocating for a caste census.

Mentioning a physical confrontation between BJP and Congress leaders in Parliament that led to injuries to two BJP MPs, Ulaka accused the BJP of filing 26 cases against Rahul Gandhi as part of a calculated diversion from the disrespectful comments made by Amit Shah.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Congress Legislative Party in the Assembly, Rama Chandra Kadam, also condemned the BJP and Amit Shah for the latter's disrespectful remarks aimed at Ambedkar.

He remarked that Amit Shah's statements are also an affront to Dalits, Adivasis, and the Constitution of India.
