Congress Conducts 'Dr B R Ambedkar Samman Morcha' in Maharashtra, Criticizes BJP

Mumbai, Dec 24 (NationPress) A day after Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, made a visit to Maharashtra, the state unit organized passionate protest marches in several districts calling for the ousting of Home Minister Amit Shah due to his recent statements about Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar.
The protests were termed 'Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Samman Morcha' and witnessed the participation of thousands of party members and ordinary citizens who gathered to denounce what they characterized as the Bharatiya Janata Party and Shah's “offenses” towards the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.
In addition to party members, numerous MPs, MLAs, district leaders, state-level figures, and heads of various affiliated organizations joined the demonstrations throughout the state.
The demonstrators carried banners, placards, and posters denouncing BJP and Shah, some displaying copies of the Constitution while marching or taking part in bicycle and motorcycle rallies.
“We have adopted a firm position on this matter and demand that Shah must apologize to the entire nation for disrespecting Vishwa Ratna Dr Ambedkar. We also urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dismiss Shah from the Union Cabinet for his derogatory comments about Dr Ambedkar,” stated state Congress President Nana F. Patole.
In Latur, MP Dr Shivaji Kalge, former minister Amit V. Deshmukh, and numerous others participated in a motorcycle rally from Dr B R Ambedkar Park to the Collectorate, where they submitted a memorandum to the Collector.
City and district leaders led by MP Ravindra V. Chavan, district chief B R Kadam, and city president Abdul Sattar, along with many women, participated in the protests in Nanded.
MP Pratibha Dhanorkar, along with former AAP district chief Subhash Dhote and others, marched in Chandrapur, shouting slogans against Shah and the BJP.
Amravati saw a lengthy procession led by state leaders Bhaiya Pawar, Kishore Borkar, former city Mayor Vilas Ingore, Milind Chimote, and district chief Bablu Shekhawat, raising slogans criticizing the central government.
The Akola Congress organized a rally to the Collectorate, led by MLA Sajid Khan Pathan, city chief Dr Prashant Wankhade, former legislators, and a large group of party workers and citizens.
In Buldhana, senior leaders such as Laxmanrao Ghumre, Babasaheb Bhonde, Santosh Ambekar, Ganeshrao Patil, Dattabhau Kakas, and others marched to the district administration office to submit a memorandum to the Collector.
The Congress staged a vigorous protest march in Palghar, chanting slogans demanding an apology and resignation from Shah, while calling for the PM to remove him from the cabinet.
Protest marches and demonstrations will continue in various districts across the state on Friday (after the Christmas holiday), as indicated by Jalna party chief Rajabhau Deshmukh and MLA Kailash Gorantyal.
The state Congress previously announced a series of protests in Maharashtra and beyond to denounce Shah's comments on Dr B R Ambedkar, which have incited anger among all political factions and the public, especially the Dalit community.
