Congress Legislators in Blue Staged a Protest at the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Holding the Constitution

Bhopal, December 20 (NationPress) In the midst of significant turmoil regarding the Ambedkar controversy nationwide, Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh organized a demonstration on the Assembly grounds on Friday, brandishing a copy of the Constitution.

A contingent of Congress MLAs, spearheaded by the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Umang Singhar, donned blue attire while showcasing the copy of the Indian Constitution as they gathered for a protest near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

This action aimed to express solidarity with the party's central leadership, which had conducted a similar demonstration at the Parliament on Thursday.

During the protest, Congress MLAs chanted slogans such as - “Ambedkar Ka Apman, Nahi Sahega Hindustan” (India will not tolerate the insult of Ambedkar).

Members of Congress accused the Delhi Police of lodging false charges against their leader Rahul Gandhi at the behest of BJP leaders.

“Initially, BJP's senior leaders insulted Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in the Parliament. When Congress leaders protested against the derogatory remarks on Ambedkar, fake charges were filed against our leader Rahul Gandhi. This is intolerable,” stated Umang Singhar.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, also participated in a protest at the Parliament.

The protest escalated into a confrontation between ruling and opposition MPs, resulting in injuries to two lawmakers.

Subsequently, complaints were lodged by both sides. The clash transpired when MPs from the opposition bloc protested at the Parliament premises, while a group of BJP MPs gathered to demonstrate against Congress' alleged disrespect towards Dr. Ambedkar.

During the altercation, a 70-year-old BJP MP from Balasore in Odisha reportedly fell and sustained a head injury, necessitating hospitalization.

According to Congress, party president Mallikarjun Kharge collapsed amid the skirmish.

Later, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused Rahul Gandhi and a few of his MPs of “physically assaulting” the protesting BJP MPs outside the Parliament gate.
