BJP Files Police Complaint Against Rahul Gandhi for Alleged Assault in Parliament

New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) Former Union Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur, alongside fellow MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed a police complaint for attempted murder against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday. They allege that Gandhi pushed and injured BJP MPs on the Parliament grounds.
The complaint was lodged at Sansad Marg police station under various penal provisions concerning criminal intimidation, endangering human life through negligence, voluntarily causing hurt, and using criminal force, referencing sections from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita including 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351.
This incident, which resulted in injuries to BJP MPs, occurred amidst a heated exchange on Parliament grounds during a protest by Opposition MPs, who accused the ruling party of disrespecting B.R. Ambedkar.
Anurag Thakur stated, "Today, we have initiated a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for assault and provocation, detailing the event that transpired outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament House, where NDA MPs were peacefully protesting. Rahul Gandhi reportedly pushed them, resulting in injuries that necessitated hospitalization for two BJP MPs."
Describing the event as a "very unfortunate incident," Thakur criticized Congress and Rahul Gandhi for their tendency to flout the law, claiming that the "arrogant" Gandhi believes himself to be above legal accountability.
Thakur accused Gandhi of irresponsible behavior, stating: "The Congress party has consistently disrespected Babasaheb Ambedkar. Although Congress and its allies have been protesting daily, when BJP MPs attempted to hold a protest today, Rahul Gandhi and his associates aggressively approached the protestors, resulting in injuries to two individuals."
He further explained, "Mukesh Rajput suffered a head injury due to the push, and Pratap Chandra Sarangi also sustained a head injury from Rahul Gandhi's actions, as he failed to adhere to the guidance provided by security personnel to prevent a physical altercation."
Following the altercation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to inquire about the condition of the injured BJP MPs at the Parliament entrance.
PM Modi personally contacted BJP MPs Sarangi and Rajput to check on their health after they were injured. He also assured them of his complete support.
