K.C. Venugopal Condemns BJP's FIR Against Rahul Over Parliament Incident

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal on Thursday condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after several of its MPs, led by Anurag Thakur, filed a complaint with the police against the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, concerning a scuffle on the Parliament grounds that resulted in injuries to two BJP MPs.

Describing the BJP's actions as a diversionary tactic, Venugopal posted on the social media platform X: "The FIR against @RahulGandhi ji is merely a distraction in reaction to his strong protests against the Home Minister."

He added, "Filing a case against him for defending Babasaheb's legacy is a badge of honour. Moreover, Rahul Ji is already facing 26 FIRs, a result of the BJP's political vendetta, and this latest FIR will not deter him or the Congress from opposing the casteist RSS-BJP regime."

Furthermore, the senior Congress leader questioned: "Why has the Delhi Police not acted upon the FIRs submitted by women MPs of INC against BJP leaders who physically assaulted them?"

Former Union Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur, along with colleagues Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, lodged a police complaint for attempted murder against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for allegedly pushing and injuring BJP MPs within the Parliament area.

The complaint was registered at Sansad Marg police station under sections related to criminal intimidation, negligence endangering human life, voluntarily causing injury, and using criminal force, including provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351.

The incident, which caused injuries to BJP MPs, followed a heated exchange during a protest by Opposition MPs alleging disrespect to B.R. Ambedkar.

"Today, we have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for assault and provocation, detailing the incident that transpired today outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament House, where NDA MPs were protesting peacefully, and Rahul Gandhi pushed them, resulting in injuries to two BJP MPs who are now hospitalized," Thakur stated.

Referring to the event as a "very unfortunate incident," Thakur remarked that Congress and Rahul Gandhi have a tendency to disregard the law, claiming that the "arrogant" Rahul Gandhi believes he is above it.

Thakur accused Rahul Gandhi of acting irresponsibly, stating: "The Congress has continually insulted Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Congress and its allies protest daily, yet when BJP MPs attempted to hold a protest today, Rahul Gandhi and his MPs forcibly approached the protestors, causing injuries to two of them."

"Mukesh Rajput fell on his head during the push, and Pratap Chandra Sarangi also sustained head injuries due to Rahul Gandhi's actions, as he failed to follow the direction given by security personnel to prevent a physical confrontation," Thakur added.

Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to inquire about the health of the two injured BJP MPs at the Parliament entrance.

PM Modi personally called BJP MPs Sarangi and Rajput to check on their well-being after they were injured, assuring them of his full support.
