Madhya Pradesh Assembly Session Concludes Sine Die Amid Protests Over Parliamentary Conflict

Bhopal, Dec 20 (NationPress) The Winter Session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was brought to a close sine die on Friday following a dramatic confrontation between members of both the ruling and opposition parties regarding a scuffle that occurred outside the Parliament.

On the fifth day of the session, as the House proceedings commenced, senior BJP MLA Sitasharan Sharma highlighted the incident from Thursday that took place on Parliament grounds and accused Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of engaging in violent behavior.

In response, Congress MLA and the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Umang Singhar, objected, stating that the House was not permitted to discuss the matter as the individual (Rahul Gandhi) is not a member of this Assembly.

Instead, Congress MLAs present in the House, wearing blue scarves and holding copies of the Constitution, rose from their seats, chanted slogans, and reiterated their demand for an apology from the BJP regarding an alleged derogatory comment about B. R. Ambedkar made in Parliament.

For a brief period, members from both sides confronted each other, accusing one another of disrespecting Ambedkar, which led Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar to adjourn the House sine die.

Subsequently, Cooperation Minister Vishwas Sargang accused the opposition members of showing disrespect to the national anthem.

He remarked, "When the national anthem was played in the House, Congress members began protesting. This is an insult to the Constitution and the national anthem."

It is important to note that on Thursday, a protest regarding an alleged disrespectful remark about Dr. Ambedkar escalated into chaos, resulting in injuries to two Lok Sabha MPs during a physical altercation between ruling and opposition members at the Parliament.

Afterward, both sides lodged complaints against each other.

Additionally, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that BJP MPs were demonstrating outside the Parliament gate when Rahul Gandhi, along with a few of his colleagues, physically attacked them.
