Bhopal, March 20 (NationPress) Members of the Madhya Pradesh Congress in the Assembly staged a protest against the state government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, using whistles to symbolize their attempt to awaken a figure who appears to be in deep slumber.

Dinesh Jain, a Congress MLA representing Mahidpur, one of the constituencies in Ujjain, laid down on the ground at the Assembly premises. His fellow party members encircled him, blowing whistles and distributing pamphlets while chanting slogans opposing the BJP government.

Arriving to take part in the ongoing Budget Session, Congress MLAs gathered near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi outside the Assembly and enacted their 'protest-cum-drama' as if they were rousing 'Kumbhkarna', a notable character from the Hindu epic 'Ramayana'.

During this satirical demonstration against the Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, MLA Dinesh Jain, portraying Kumbhkarna, delivered the line, 'Jitna bhrastachar hota hai, untna achha lagta hai. Mai sarkar hun, ahankari hun.'

In an interview with IANS, Congress MLA Jain remarked, 'After securing victory in the elections, the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has fallen into a deep slumber like 'Kumbhkarna', prompting Congress members to whistle in an attempt to rouse it.'

The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly, Umang Singhar, stated that over a year has elapsed since the BJP took office in the state, yet they have failed to deliver on the promises made to the electorate during last year's Assembly elections.

'As the Opposition, it is our duty to persistently call upon the government to awaken. The law and order situation is dire, with police officers being attacked by mobs. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav remains silent on issues such as unemployment and other significant public concerns,' Singhar accused.

Congress MLAs performed this dramatic protest a day after senior BJP leader and State Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya donned the attire of Falahari Baba from Pitareshwar Dham during a 'Rang Panchami' procession in Indore on Wednesday.
