Bhopal, March 10 (NationPress) The Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh organized a demonstration on the Assembly grounds against the ruling BJP on the inaugural day of the budget session on Monday.

The Opposition, spearheaded by the Leader of Opposition in the MP Assembly, Umang Singhar, arrived at the Assembly, obscuring their faces with black fabric and brandishing placards and posters bearing slogans directed at the BJP government.

Singhar stated that the Congress MLAs donned black attire as a symbol of protest against the ruling BJP, which has remained mute on public concerns, with those voicing their opinions facing police intimidation.

"The Opposition is calling for a discussion on corruption, farmers, and other public welfare topics during the budget session. However, the BJP seems disinterested in addressing these matters. When Congress MLAs requested clarifications on corruption allegations, they were pressured to retract their inquiries," Singhar informed IANS.

He further accused the ruling BJP of trying to protect numerous influential individuals, including politicians and senior bureaucrats, allegedly involved in corruption, including ex-RTO constable Saurabh Sharma and his associates who have been apprehended.

"Why have Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the entire BJP leadership chosen to remain silent on this matter? Investigative bodies have unearthed the involvement of several BJP leaders and high-ranking bureaucrats, and their identities must be revealed," Singhar remarked.

Simultaneously, the budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly commenced with an address by Governor Mangubhai Patel.

The state administration is set to present its inaugural full budget in the Vidhan Sabha on March 12. The House proceedings will be suspended from March 14 to 16, reconvening on March 17 and 18. A holiday for Rang Panchami will be observed on March 19, with House proceedings resuming on March 20 and 21, followed by another recess on March 22 and 23. The concluding day of the House proceedings is scheduled for March 24. The Chief Minister Mohan Yadav-led BJP government is expected to introduce up to five significant bills for discussion and approval during this session.
