Congress to Stage Protest on December 16 as Mohan Yadav's MP Government Marks One Year in Power

Bhopal, Dec 11 (NationPress) While the BJP-led administration is making arrangements to celebrate its first year in power in Madhya Pradesh, the Opposition Congress is ramping up its criticism of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and plans to hold a demonstration on December 16.

The Madhya Pradesh Congress has denounced CM Yadav's initiative to host a two-week-long event named 'Jan Kalyan Parv', aimed at showcasing the development initiatives carried out over the past year.

Labeling the BJP government's event as a 'publicity gimmick', Congress argues that with the state grappling under a staggering financial burden exceeding Rs 4 lakh crore, public funds should not be squandered on 'pointless' activities.

Veteran Congress figure and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath remarked that the so-called 'Jan Kalyan Parv' is being launched in the state, yet the citizens of Madhya Pradesh are eager to learn about the promises made by the BJP during the elections that remain unfulfilled. "What is the need for new promises?" questioned Kamal Nath.

"Thus, we urge you (CM Mohan Yadav) to refrain from wasting the hard-earned money of the populace on frivolous events and instead invest it in genuine public welfare, not mere paper welfare," he stated.

The MP Congress is also gearing up for a significant protest to challenge the CM Mohan Yadav-led BJP government on December 16. The party's state head, Jitu Patwari, has called upon all Congress members and leaders to participate in the protest in Bhopal.

Additionally, the winter session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly is scheduled to commence on December 16. During this five-day session, the state government is expected to present its supplementary budget.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will mark the completion of one year in office on December 13.

Following a decisive triumph in the state Assembly elections held on November 17, 2023, the BJP's central leadership replaced former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan with Mohan Yadav.

The three-time BJP MLA from the temple town of Ujjain, Mohan Yadav took the oath as the Chief Minister on December 13, 2023. Chouhan, who was elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Vidisha, now serves as the Union Agriculture Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet.

The BJP clinched victory in Madhya Pradesh by securing 163 seats out of the 230-member Assembly, while Congress saw its representation dwindle to 66 from 114 seats won in the 2018 Assembly elections.
