Bihar NDA Leaders Accuse Congress of Disrespecting Ambedkar Amidst Protests

Patna, Dec 24 (NationPress) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha initiated a strong rebuttal against the Congress party on Tuesday, amid demonstrations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah due to his remarks about Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
Sinha highlighted historical instances of Congress's treatment of Ambedkar, asserting that the leaders of the grand old party were responsible for his ousting from the cabinet. "They had created circumstances that led to Ambedkar's electoral defeats. They even failed to erect his statue," Sinha stated.
He challenged why Congress never appointed Ambedkar as Prime Minister and accused them of favoring leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru over Ambedkar. "I dare the Congress leaders to show more respect to Ambedkar than to Nehru," Sinha asserted.
Another Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, accused Congress of continuously belittling Ambedkar. "The Congress leaders have consistently disrespected Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He received the Bharat Ratna from a non-Congress regime, highlighting Congress's failure to honor him during their governance," Choudhary stated.
He further criticized Congress for allegedly misusing Article 356, suggesting that it indicates a lack of faith in the Constitution and the democratic ideals that Ambedkar championed.
Rajiv Ranjan, also known as Lalan Singh, Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Panchayati Raj, condemned the Congress party, claiming they have shown a historical and systemic disregard for Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. "Throughout its time in power, Congress has insulted Ambedkar. Their current protests will bear no political or public fruit; they are disingenuous and ineffective," Singh remarked.
These remarks came in the context of protests by Congress leaders regarding Amit Shah's comments made during a discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution.
Shah had stated, "Nowadays, there is a trend surrounding Ambedkar. Opposition parties and their leaders repeatedly mention Ambedkar’s name. If God’s name had been invoked as often, one would attain heaven for seven lifetimes."
This statement drew backlash from various political figures and parties, as opposition leaders accused Shah of showing disrespect towards Ambedkar's legacy and the high regard he holds, especially among Dalits and marginalized groups.
