Congress Overlooked B.R. Ambedkar, Failed to Acknowledge His Contributions: Jitan Ram Manjhi

Patna, Dec 19 (NationPress) Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on Wednesday, expressing his support for Home Minister Amit Shah, who has faced allegations from the grand old party regarding disrespect towards B.R. Ambedkar during his address in Parliament.
In a message posted on X, Manjhi accused the Congress of having a long-standing history of neglecting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the visionary behind India’s Constitution. He claimed that the Congress failed to bestow the Bharat Ratna upon Ambedkar during their rule and even played a role in his electoral loss.
Manjhi stated, “During the time when Congress held power, they conferred the Bharat Ratna to numerous individuals but disregarded Dr. Ambedkar. They were also a factor in his electoral defeat. Our government is the one that finally accorded him the respect he rightfully deserved, which the Congress seems unable to accept.”
This statement emerged following remarks by Shiv Chandra Ram, an RJD MLA, who criticized Manjhi and Union Minister Chirag Paswan for their silence on this matter, despite both representing the Mahadalit and Dalit communities.
“We are deeply disappointed that Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, who profess to advocate for Dalit and Mahadalit interests, appeared indifferent to the disrespect directed at Dr. Ambedkar, a revered figure for these communities. These leaders seemed more preoccupied with their personal families and interests rather than truly championing the welfare of Dalits and Mahadalits,” Ram commented.
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, added to the criticism directed at Congress, specifically targeting senior leader Jairam Ramesh.
Chaudhary accused Congress leaders of lacking focus and making unfounded statements, especially concerning Union Home Minister Amit Shah. “The mindset of Congress leaders is completely off-track. There is no Congress member left in the House capable of providing a proper response. What Jairam Ramesh is asserting about Amit Shah is incorrect. The public is attentively observing the bills being passed in the House and the Congress’s reactions,” he remarked.
