Lalu Prasad Demands Resignation of HM Shah Over Ambedkar Remarks

Patna, Dec 19 (NationPress) Lalu Prasad Yadav, the National President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has vehemently criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding a recent remark made about Dr. BR Ambedkar.

While speaking with reporters in Patna, Lalu Yadav accused Amit Shah and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of showing animosity towards Dr. Ambedkar, who is a pivotal figure in the formation of the Indian Constitution and represents social justice.

Expressing his disapproval, Lalu Yadav remarked: “Amit Shah and BJP leaders have contempt for Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. His statement exemplifies this. I vehemently condemn his remarks. He ought to resign and exit politics.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, Yadav accused the BJP and its ideological partners of consistently undermining Dr Ambedkar and his contributions.

In a pointed statement, Yadav declared, “The ideological descendants of Golwalkar have always disrespected our revered figure, Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Followers of the book ‘Bunch of Thoughts’ can never genuinely appreciate the principles of Dr. Ambedkar, the creator of our Constitution. Their disdain for him is manifest not only in their rhetoric but also in their non-verbal cues.”

He further claimed that BJP leaders possess ingrained biases.

“Social inequality, untouchability, discrimination, and hostility towards Dalits and marginalised groups are embedded in the DNA of Sanghi BJP leaders. Their contempt for the Constitution and its tenets is apparent. “True disciples of Baba Saheb Ambedkar do not affiliate with the BJP. Anyone who supports the BJP after such disparagement towards Ambedkar is essentially endorsing Golwalkar’s ideology and has willingly become a sycophant of BJP leaders,” Yadav stated.

In response to Lalu Prasad Yadav's comments, leaders from the ruling coalition, including JD(U) and BJP, have expressed strong disagreement with his statements, labelling them as unfounded and questioning his integrity.

Neeraj Kumar, JD(U) MLC, condemned Lalu Prasad Yadav's remarks, asserting, “He lacks credibility, as the Election Commission has deemed him ineligible to participate in elections. The public no longer regards Lalu's statements with seriousness. Lalu Prasad should explain why a memorial for Ambedkar has yet to be built, while one exists for Sanjay Gandhi. Lalu's family has accumulated assets worth ₹478 crore in Patna, and now they are engaging in hypocrisy.”

BJP leader Arvind Kumar Singh defended Amit Shah, claiming that his statements highlighted the Opposition's historical neglect of Dr. Ambedkar, which has caused unease among them.
