Lalu Prasad Accuses BJP-RSS Leaders of Continuous Disrespect Towards B.R. Ambedkar

Patna, Dec 19 (NationPress) The president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lalu Prasad Yadav, has accused the BJP and its affiliated organizations of showing consistent disrespect towards B.R. Ambedkar and his enduring legacy.
He further criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for comments made during a parliamentary speech, claiming they lacked the required reverence for B.R. Ambedkar.
The former Chief Minister of Bihar asserted, "Devotees of the book Bunch of Thoughts cannot genuinely adopt the philosophies of Dr. Ambedkar, the creator of our Constitution. Their animosity towards him is clear not just in their discourse but also in their physical demeanor."
He went on to suggest that BJP leaders possess ingrained prejudices.
"Social inequality, untouchability, discrimination, and animosity towards Dalits and marginalized groups are entrenched... their contempt for the Constitution and its values is apparent.
“Genuine followers of Babasaheb Ambedkar do not align themselves with the BJP. Anyone who backs the BJP after such slights to Ambedkar is effectively promoting and venerating M.S. Golwalkar's ideology," he stated.
Lalu Prasad Yadav's remarks underscore the persistent ideological and political rifts concerning Ambedkar’s legacy and its interpretation within modern Indian politics.
During a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, Amit Shah made a controversial remark regarding Dr. B.R. Ambedkar that ignited significant political backlash.
Amit Shah stated, "Currently, there is a trend surrounding Ambedkar. Opposition parties and their leaders keep repeating Ambedkar-Ambedkar-Ambedkar-Ambedkar-Ambedkar-Ambedkar...."
This statement faced condemnation from multiple political figures and factions. Opposition leaders accused Amit Shah of trivializing Ambedkar’s legacy and the respect he garners, especially among Dalits and marginalized communities.
The comments have elicited strong reactions, with leaders such as Lalu Prasad Yadav denouncing the BJP for what he termed a lack of respect for Ambedkar and his principles.
Previously, Tejashwi Yadav and RJD MLA Shiv Chandra Ram also expressed their disapproval of Amit Shah’s statements.
