Odisha's Chief Minister Criticizes Congress for Misusing Amit Shah's Remarks on Ambedkar

Bhubaneswar, Dec 24 (NationPress) Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi sharply criticized the Congress party for manipulating the comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah concerning B.R. Ambedkar in a recent address in Parliament.
He denounced the Congress for misrepresenting Home Minister Shah's words for their own political gain.
"A look into history reveals that the Congress party and its leaders, including Jawahar Lal Nehru, have consistently disrespected and ridiculed B.R. Ambedkar across various domains, including journalism and politics. Therefore, I assert that the Congress party must first apologize for its past disrespect towards Ambedkar," stated CM Majhi at a press conference held on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister further claimed that Ambedkar, who was well-versed in economics and industry, was designated as the Law Minister in the first Congress government led by Nehru instead of being appointed to a ministry aligned with his expertise.
"When reservations were discussed, the focus was primarily on granting reservations to Muslims, while Scheduled Castes and tribals received no special provisions. The Congress party showed disrespect to Ambedkar when he highlighted this injustice," alleged CM Majhi.
The CM mentioned that Ambedkar had also resigned from his position over various grievances.
He noted that former PM Nehru, in correspondence with B.C. Ray, explicitly stated that Ambedkar's resignation would not impact the functioning of the Congress government.
Majhi accused the Congress of running candidates against Ambedkar during the 1952 Lok Sabha elections and the 1954 by-elections.
He added that even former PM Nehru campaigned against Ambedkar in both elections.
Additionally, he pointed out that the Congress honored Narayan Sadoba Kajrolkar, who defeated Ambedkar in elections, with the Padma Bhushan in 1970.
Conversely, CM Majhi asserted that the BJP respects B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, greatly.
He mentioned that former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated a memorial at Ambedkar's birthplace in Madhya Pradesh.
CM Majhi also noted that current PM Narendra Modi inaugurated an Ambedkar center in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Congress has initiated a nationwide campaign against the purportedly disrespectful comment made by Amit Shah regarding Ambedkar.
The Congress is demanding Amit Shah's resignation and a public apology concerning the matter.
