Karnataka BJP: CM Siddaramaiah's Focus is on Power, Not Ambedkar

Bengaluru, Dec 20 (NationPress) The Opposition leader in Karnataka and prominent BJP figure R. Ashoka has voiced criticism against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, claiming that the CM is more preoccupied with retaining power in the state than with the legacy of B.R. Ambedkar.
"This obsession is detrimental, as he clings to authority even if it leads to self-deception," Ashoka remarked.
Following the conclusion of the Winter session on Thursday, the BJP leader stated, "The entire nation is aware of how the Congress party has betrayed B.R. Ambedkar. CM Siddaramaiah is also cognizant of this. If he possesses even a modicum of conscience, he ought to leave the Congress party before making comments about Ambedkar."
"In 1920, during the arrival of the Simon Commission, Ambedkar advocated for voting rights for Dalits. Congress members intervened to oppose this, arguing that Dalits were uninformed. The Congress party has historically resisted granting Dalits voting rights and reservations. As a Congress member, Siddaramaiah lacks the moral authority to address issues related to Ambedkar," Ashoka criticized the Congress-led state government.
"Ambedkar famously stated that joining Congress was akin to committing suicide. Yet, for the sake of power, CM Siddaramaiah allied with that very party. If he genuinely wishes to discuss Ambedkar, he must first resign from Congress. Siddaramaiah, who has compromised his own principles for power, cannot teach the BJP any lessons," he added.
"Ambedkar granted us the Constitution to ensure governmental accountability to the public. Yet, the Congress government, despite swearing an oath to the Constitution, evades accountability and responsibility during the Belagavi winter session. This is a disgrace to Ambedkar and the Constitution," Ashoka asserted.
The BJP leader continued, "Ambedkar once said, 'I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress its women have achieved.' However, the Congress government, while feigning respect for Ambedkar by showcasing his images, is simultaneously providing substandard medical supplies, leading to the deaths of women. This is utterly shameful."
"The Congress government has rendered the Belagavi session a mere exercise in futility. They have failed to respond to any significant issues raised. Concerns regarding North Karnataka, as well as the fatalities of mothers and newborns in government hospitals, remain unaddressed. Discontent has been expressed not only by BJP and JD(S) MLAs but also by Congress MLAs regarding the government's neglect of North Karnataka," Ashoka stated.
He demanded that the Congress government must not merely make promises but must deliver on them.
